Operating Principle The SPB Series rotary drum dryer operates through a hot-air drying process designed to reduce the moisture content of sawdust and other suitable biomass materials. The main components and operating stages are: Heat generator – Steel construction with high-temperature-resistant refractory lining. Raw material feeding hopper – Capacity of 1.6–3 m³, equipped with a dosing screw for feeding material into the dryer. Rotary drying drum – Equipped with three drying chambers featuring spiral-shaped internal passages. Exhaust fan and cyclone separator – The cyclone is equipped with a rotary airlock discharge valve for controlled removal of dried material. Control panel and automated operating system – Siemens LCD-based control system, configured according to the raw material moisture content. 3. Drying Process Wet raw material is fed into the rotary drum dryer and exposed to a stream of hot air. As the material passes through the three drying chambers, it is continuously mixed and conveyed through the spiral-shaped internal passages, allowing moisture to evaporate. The dried material is subsequently discharged through the cyclone separator equipped with a rotary airlock valve. Moist exhaust air is removed by the exhaust fan. The drying process reduces the moisture content to the required level for subsequent processing, such as biomass pelletizing or briquetting. 4.
